Meaningful Messages Supporting Children with Catastrophic Illnesses
Get Lost, LLC., is a private company founded in Safety Harbor, Florida, by Jennifer Tresh. Jennifer lost her 5 year old daughter, Elena, to brain cancer in 1999. This devastating event nearly cost Jennifer her life, and after a harrowing and lengthy recovery, she has dedicated her career to raising money and awareness for various pediatric illnesses.
Get Lost, LLC, is proud to introduce “The Lost Cards”, their first innovative new product line! These cards provide an intimate, and sometimes humorous, look at loss. From the loss of life, to the loss of car keys, or perhaps your mind, “The Lost Cards” are each personally designed by someone whose life has been touched by Elena, or another terminally ill child. “When you lose a child, it is difficult to find comfort through written words. Often people struggle to convey such comfort,” says Tresh, Chief Executive Officer. She further states, “Our cards are meant to touch the heart in a manner that is brief, and powerful, with the added benefit of knowing that by purchasing one, your money is making a difference in helping all children suffering from a life-threatening or catastrophic illness.” The proceeds from “The Lost Cards” benefit charities that are fighting to save children, increase awareness, and expand research in pediatric cancers. Tresh states, “Pediatric cancer represents one percent of all cancer diagnoses. There is not enough money being directed toward research. We must increase reliance on independent and private funding to ensure that everything is being done to put an end to the tragic suffering of these children.”
One of the charities that will benefit directly from Get Lost, LLC, is The Elena Tresh Foundation, Inc. The Foundation was established in Elena’s honor in 2005, and provides financial aid, grief support, holiday and birthday assistance and networking of information to families dealing with the catastrophic illness or terminal diagnosis of a child. When discussing the Foundation, her eyes readily well with tears when Jennifer Tresh stated, “I wanted Elena’s memory to mean something to a stranger. This small child had more courage and faith than 1000 men. I believe in my heart that she is present in each and every card. I wanted some of the cards to convey humor because I believe that laughter does heal, and Elena had the greatest sense of humor. She was always making someone smile or laugh.” Tresh further points out that the type of brain tumor Elena had, a Diffuse Pontine Glioma, still carries the fatal prognosis it did in 1997 when she was diagnosed. “I have seen little progress in this area, and the number of children inflicted with this horrible disease continues to rise at an alarming rate. When Elena was diagnosed, I had never heard of such a tumor, and now, unfortunately, newly diagnosed

families are reaching out to us weekly,” says Tresh. “We must find a cure. No child should die before their parents, and none should suffer the way Elena did.”

From the loss of life, the loss of your pet, the loss of your job, the loss of your keys, to the loss of your hair from chemotherapy, these cards will captivate their recipient and long be remembered after the message is delivered.
